Invisalign® Orthodontic Treatment
What is Invisalign®?
Invisalign is a set of invisible aligners that, like metal bands, brackets, or wires, straighten teeth over time. Invisalign eliminates both the discomfort of metal wires and the inconvenience of adjustments. The Invisalign system provides custom-made aligners that are comfortable, and easy to remove for eating, brushing, flossing and special occasions. The clear-plastic aligners are so inconspicuous that it is difficult to tell when someone is wearing them.
How Does Invisalign Work?
At Sindledecker Dentistry, we use the latest in 3-D computer imaging to determine the path of tooth movement for each patient. This allows Drs. Sindledecker and their staff to design a series of personalized Invisalign aligners that work to straighten teeth over time. Patients will wear each set of aligners for approximately two weeks, at which point there is a changeover to a new set.
Candidates for Invisalign
Invisalign aligners treat most common dental problems found in adults and teens. They can treat both minor cosmetic issues and more-complex bite problems including crooked or misaligned teeth, eliminate teeth crowding, or close up large spaces between teeth. Additionally, Invisalign can correct overbites, underbites, and crossbites.
“Staff is always friendly and professional. Dr. Amanda has made going to the dentist pleasant and very non-threatening. I also appreciate that they are on time and value my time. I highly recommend Sindledecker Dentistry.” – Marcy K.
Invisalign aligners are nearly invisible and do not draw attention to the mouth. Therefore, most people cannot tell when someone is wearing them. Invisalign aligners offer many benefits over traditional metal braces including:
- More cosmetically appealing
- Lower cost
- Little-to-no impact on daily life
- Less painful
- Greater flexibility because aligners can be removed at any time
- Easier to keep teeth clean and healthy
- No dietary restrictions
- Flexible payment options
Consultation for Invisalign
To begin the Invisalign process, patients must come in for a consultation with Drs. Sindledecker. After an examination, they will determine whether Invisalign aligners are suitable for the patient. If that is the case, Drs. Sindledecker will develop an appropriate course of treatment. In addition, X-rays, photographs, and impressions will be taken of the teeth.
The Invisalign Treatment Process
After a consultation, advanced 3-D computer-imaging technology will analyze and transform teeth impressions into a custom series of clear and removable aligners. Using this same computer imaging, Drs. Sindledecker will be able to see the progression of the therapy, and what the teeth will look like after treatment is complete. This analysis can be done in-office.
At the next visit, the patient will receive their first set of aligners. Patients should wear each set day and night for about two weeks and only remove them to eat, drink, brush and floss. The patient will have appointments every to track treatment progression and receive the next set of aligners to take home.
Results of Invisalign Treatment
Typically, Invisalign treatment takes about a year from start to finish. Patients will see Drs. Sindledecker for a brief appointment every 6 to 8 weeks where our staff will review your progress. Treatment is complete after each set of aligners has been worn.
Dental Imaging With iTero Digital Scanner
At Sindledecker Dentistry, we now use the use the iTero Digital Scanner for taking images before the Invisalign process. With the latest technology for taking impressions of teeth, older methods of taking molds are not as accurate and far messier for the patient. Instead of using uncomfortable molds, we instead use a digital scanner to evaluate your teeth. The iTero Digital Scanner provides accuracy and high-precision scanning for the dentist, providing the patient with the best outcome. Taking about 6,000 frames a second, you will be able to pinpoint any issue with your dental health.
